With the finals of season two of the Guild Wars 2 Pro League completed, the ESL and ArenaNet have announced that there will be a World Championship with a $200,000 USD pool, with first place taking half of that total in prize money.

The Guild Wars 2 World Championship qualification will be based on the Pro League Season 2 standings. The top six teams from both Europe and North America will be invited to play in the online qualifier for their respective regions. Both will be streamed live, with the European qualifier taking place on Saturday, August 6, and the North American qualifier on Sunday, August 7.

With the Season 2 winners, The Civilized Gentlemen, having defeated the previous undefeated Rank Fifty Five Dragons in a convincing manner (3-0) in the final, it appears that no clear winner can be easily divined in advance of the Championship itself.
