Today has seen the release of the largest single-day content release in RuneScape‘s 16-year history with Menaphos: The Golden City hitting the world of Gielinor. The expansion features four brand-new story quests, procedurally-generated City Quests, a new Slayer Dungeon, an increased level cap of 120 for the Slayer skill, a maze-like Shifting Tombs mini-game and a graphical overhaul of the entire in-game desert region.
If that world-salad doesn’t appeal to you, then Jagex’s latest gameplay trailer for the expansion may do instead. So, lets watch shall we…
The trailer shows a lone chracater visiting the many districts of Menaphos, showing off portions of the Merchant District, the dungeon and the Shifting Tombs minigame – as well as a peek at a female Crocodilian-like deity sitting in a luxurious pool.
In addition to the launch, Jagex will be enabling all gamers to experience Menaphos by way of an open access weekend from Friday, June 9 through to Monday, June 12 – allowing non-members the chance to explore the expansion and the wider RuneScape world for free.
